Artisan on Commercial Drive

One of my favorite haunts is Commercial Drive located on Vancouver's eastside. On this particular day, I met this friendly wood carver who kindly allowed me to take his picture. Honestly, I was more intrigued with his unique dress and hair color as I was his engraving.

Stuntman: Falling Leif

I met Leif, a professional stuntman, at an abandoned parking lot near Science World one afternoon. He was pulling off these amazing no-handed wheelies on his bike, so I started shooting. During a break, he told me he was practicing for a scene in an upcoming episode of "Smallville" which is filmed here in Vancouver. He asked me if I could shoot some promo shots for him. Here's one of them.

Confrontation at Main & Hastings

I shot this out of my car while driving in the Eastside of downtown Vancouver. Sirens were wailing and several cruisers and cops converged on this man. A typical day on the Eastside.

Finn's Slough

Richmond is a photographer's paradise. I stumbled across this historical fishing village just 5 minutes from my house. I was intrigued by the 'shanty-town' styled homes propped on stilts that sway when the tide goes in and out. It is a wonderful example of how human habitation can co-exist with a natural area with minimal impact.

"It's Your Deal."

Usually when I stumble across a card game it's to see who's wagering the most or who's bluffing. But what struck me about this poker game at a local community center was the commaraderie. It was warm. It was easy. It doesn't get any better than this -- a friendly card game with your best friends.

Mr. Wah Lui

I met Mr. Lui in Three Hills, Alberta. He got his start as a press photographer in Hong Kong and did a stint in the South Pacific. Due to his wife's deterioriating health, he decided to give his globe-trotting career a rest. But he still has the 'bug.' I sat and talked with him for hours. His word of advice: Stick to the classics. Preferably, a medium format. Ideally, a Rolleiflex Twin Lens Reflex.

Sans Socks

Whether it's 30 degrees or -10 out, you'll find our daughter without her socks on. This has become somewhat of a ritual and game for her. Mom and Dad put her socks on. She takes them off. Perhaps she was meant to roam wild and free.

Around the Yard

Our Little Angel

Our little two-year old loves getting hands-on in the garden. I caught her in a rare standstill moment just before she started plowing in the dirt.
