Kayla Lounging

Kayla's morning ritual involves a couple hours of Kids CBC. 'Nana Lan' and 'George Shrinks' are her favorites.

Storekeeper

The Heights, North Burnaby.

I asked this friendly storekeep whether I could take his picture and he very politely complied. My camera has become this wonderful conversation starter and a bridge to a "brave" new world.

The Radisson, Richmond

"Sorry We're Closed"

With the construction of the Skytrain into Richmond, many local businesses are throwing in the towel early on. Seeing chained up doors like this one in a vibrant part of town is indeed a strange sight.

Speckled BMW

One rainy afternoon I shot the rain-speckled hood of this classic beemer.

Night to Day

I shot this image out our kitchen window very early one morning. With an active three year old in the house, early mornings and evenings are usually the only times of peace and quiet. The moon overhead a fading night sky seemed to capture my inner mood.

Hard to determine where the night ends and the new day begins.

Wedding, Long Beach

As my wife and I watched this wedding ceremony unfold, I said to her, "Why didn't we get married on the beach?"

With the sun eagerly seeking to break through the mist, it was indeed a beautiful setting.

Tour de Gastown '06

Loud enough for ya?

I think this little guy got more than he bargained for.

Italy Wins!

Italia wins the shootout! Mayhem ensues.

Commercial Drive (cont'd)

Every bistro and cafe with a TV monitor was overflowing with nail-biting spectators. The poor bloke sitting down must've tired of tip-toeing.

Vancouver Jazz Festival
July 2006

I came across this kickin' jazz/fusion band at the Festival. I grew up with the likes of Earth Wind and Fire, Level 42, and Spyro Gyra -- so listening to their old school sound was pure pleasure.

Busker Doug

I met Doug the Busker down at Granville Island the other day. The market had closed and foot traffic was almost non-existent. Nonetheless, Doug was very content to entertain an audience of one - himself.

"Stompin' Tom"

Doug sang this war-protest song to me that he had recently penned. He would've given Stompin' Tom a run for his money.

Busker's Boot

If this boot could talk . . . Oh, the stories it would tell.

Open Field

The serenity of the this empty playing field accentuated by an aging drinking fountain caught my eye.

Marching down Main St.

Protest March

On "National Workers Day" I came across this protest march at Main and 18th. Being surrounded by people passionate about their cause was both contagious and empowering.

I felt like a storm chaser with this shot. I was driving near SE False Creek and saw this gigantic 'mushroom cloud' hovering over Science World (the white dome) and rushed to mount my camera from a strategic vantage point. By the time I triggered the shot the cloud had slightly shifted. Oh well, there's always next time.

Artisan on Commercial Drive

One of my favorite haunts is Commercial Drive located on Vancouver's eastside. On this particular day, I met this friendly wood carver who kindly allowed me to take his picture. Honestly, I was more intrigued with his unique dress and hair color as I was his engraving.
